FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION !

People can accomplish more when they are allowed to do things in their own way? People always love to do things with their own style. Every person has a unique way of doing something. Each of us has our own way in greeting, writing, speaking and etc. Even though we are grouped into different races, age and gender, there
are still a big difference among each and every one of us.

This reminded me to an English teacher of mine who taught his students in a so discipline way. No one is to interrupt or even to speak during his lessons. It was kind of strange since English requires time to practice. All he gave was a thick English text book containing formulas of English sentences and test papers. The results of the final English test was remarkable. All the students in the class received scores above average and some even achieved a perfect 100. Despite their well marked tests, their knowledge in speaking was far from good. Some of the students couldn’t even pronounce ‘Good afternoon ’correctly. They knew English but didn’t know how to apply it.

Then there was another teacher of mine who also taught English. His method of teaching was inimitable. Students were not allowed to bring text book in the class. Only note books were allowed and students were free to arrange their own note. Then the teacher gave them tasks which the students were to make English questions of their own. They were also due to perform a short dialogue once every two weeks. The result was amazing. They didn’t only get good scores in the test, but they also became fluent enough to speak English. Several students were selected to attend an exchange program to native countries such as USA and Britain.

The difference between these two teachers was really clear. The first teacher didn’t give any chance to the students to express themselves. He was focusing only on how to succeed the English exam. The second teacher really showed us how he really gave his students a freedom of studying. The students achieved more than just good scores. Fluent in English was clearly an added value of how freedom will lead us to more things to accomplish. People love to do things their own way so why should we limit them.
