"Slurrrpppppp"

I took a small slurp from a cup of hot chocolate that I had just bought from the vending machine outside our university's library. It was 8.20 in the morning and both the library and the canteens were not yet to be opened. My body was no longer able to tolerate that morning's cold weather. I couldn't resist my crave on that hot drink. I saw no more hope in waitıng for the canteen to open. So there I was enjoying every slurp of the liquid that I managed to take by exchanging my coins.

"Slurrrrpppppp"

Winter was supposed to be nowhere near October but the weather that morning frosted me thoroughly. The frost didn't just stop by my skin, it also went some inches through my flesh, touching some parts of my bones. That frost stayed quite a while, from the moment I jumped off the bus till the moment I got my first slurp on the hıt chocolate.

"Slurrrrpppppp"

My friend had told me about how that weather would be and I was also aware of it. I covered myself better than how I did in the previous days, three layers at the top and two at the bottom. And still they had not served me as a propper cover yet. I should have worn clothes as thick as I would worn myself on winter.

"Slurrrrpppppp"

Then again it was still the beggining of October and that kind of coldness wouldn't be expected by most people. Espescially for someone coming from the warm and sunny tropical countries. We don't face much change in our daily weather. There would only be predictions of sunny, rainy and some stormy weather in our weathering forecast. How nice....

"Slurrrrpppppp"

However, as I thought more of the tropical weather back in my country, it actually brings some disadvantages. The warm weather don't just make us move slower/lazier, it also brings madness to the traffic. But again cold is not always about the good things, although we all know most developed countries do not lie inside tropical climate zone.

"Slurrrrpppppp"

Anyway, I would in all condition preffer the tropical climate upon others simply because "I WAS FREEZING THAT MOMENT". I would be wearing a t-shirt to school and I wouldn't have to continously rub my palms to warm my hands. Besides, the disadvantages I mentioned earlier are not objects to be avoided, they are just challenges that are waiting to be answered. And we as youngsters are the ones responsible for answering them. So will be able to face and answer those challenges young Indonesians...?

"Slrrrrrr..........."

"Slrrrrrr..........."

"Slll................."

"Sss................"

The last drops of my hot chocolate just went inside my mouth. I felt a little sad for some moments because my warm companion only accompanied me a few minutes. Fortunately, not long after a person opened the library door. I stood from my seat and immediately rushed in, bringing the used hot chocolate cup with me. It was such a relief entering the warm and bright main hall. Before I went to the chairs, I threw the cup inside the provided rubbish bin. Only then I took a seat and started opening my course books. What a cold morning I must have admitted.
